About the Sri Lankan Flying Snake
The Sri Lankan flying snake is a slender, mildly venomous snake species endemic to Sri Lanka. Its most remarkable feature is its ability to glide through the air — it launches itself from tree branches, flattens its body into a concave shape, and undulates through the air to control its descent. It can glide up to 30 meters between trees. This adaptation allows it to move through the canopy without descending to the ground.

Flying snakes are present in Wilpattu's forested areas but are challenging to spot due to their arboreal lifestyle and exceptional camouflage.
