What is Sri Lankan Leopard?

An endemic subspecies of leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) found only in Sri Lanka. It is the island's apex predator, distinguished by its tawny coat with closely spaced rosettes. Wilpattu has a healthy population of 30-40 adults. The dry season (June-September) offers the most reliable sightings as prey concentrates around shrinking water sources.
