What is National Park?

A protected area designated by the government for wildlife conservation and regulated tourism. Wilpattu National Park covers 425 km² (164 sq miles) in Sri Lanka's North Central Province. Entry is managed by the Department of Wildlife Conservation with strict rules: no walking outside designated areas, no littering, and vehicles must stay on approved tracks.
