What is Alarm Call?

A distinctive vocalization made by prey animals (especially spotted deer and langur monkeys) to warn others of a predator's presence. Wilpattu's guides are expert at reading alarm calls — the direction, intensity, and species-specific call tells them exactly where a predator is and what kind it is.
