Natural, rain-fed freshwater lakes that are the defining feature of Wilpattu National Park. Wilpattu has over 60 villus scattered across the park. These are wildlife hotspots where animals gather to drink, making them the best locations for game drives. The word 'villus' is unique to Wilpattu — no other Sri Lankan park has this ecosystem.
