August continues the peak dry season with excellent wildlife viewing. The villus are at their lowest levels of the year, concentrating wildlife around the remaining water. One highlight — early migratory birds begin arriving from the Central Asian Flyway, offering a preview of the birding season ahead while mammal viewing is still at its peak.

Temperatures 26-35°C. Still very hot early in the month. Late August may see the first signs of the inter-monsoonal rains. The landscape is at its driest, dustiest state. The first cooler days may arrive in the last week of August.
Wildlife Highlights
Leopard sightings remain excellent through most of August. Elephant gatherings continue at major villus. Sloth bear activity starts to taper slightly as Palu fruiting declines. Early migratory birds begin appearing — Indian Pittas, Blue-tailed Bee-eaters. Resident bird activity is stable.

Still excellent conditions early in the month. Late August may bring cloudier skies which can create dramatic lighting conditions. The landscape is at its most golden-brown.
